Cellulite Reduction Q & A

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a common condition that causes your skin to have a dimpled appearance. It’s most common on the thighs and buttocks, but it can also develop on other areas of your body. While cellulite is not harmful, it can make it hard to feel confident about the appearance of your skin.

In some cases, cellulite is only apparent when your skin is squeezed or compressed, like when you’re sitting or crossing your legs. For some women, skin dimpling is so severe it is visible at all times.

Everyone has a layer of fat cells that lie just beneath the surface of their skin. You also have a web-like span of connective tissue between your skin and that layer of fat.

Cellulite develops when the fat cells push against this connective tissue. Because the fat cannot stretch the connective tissues, it begins to push through, causing that distinctive dimpling appearance.

Hormonal factors might play a role in developing cellulite, especially during menopause. Aging can also change the elasticity and thickness of your skin, making cellulite more visible. Even a poor diet or tight-fitting underwear could be to blame.

What can be done to treat cellulite?

You may think that liposuction can remove cellulite, but liposuction only addresses fat cells, not the connective tissues that create dimpling. The best way to reduce the appearance of cellulite is to treat the condition from within.

Oahu OB/GYN is proud to offer TempSure Envi, a revolutionary treatment that uses radiofrequency to tighten your skin and reduce visible cellulite. The approach works for all skin types and ages and requires no advance preparation and no recovery time.

How does TempSure Envi work?

TempSure Envi uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of your skin. The outermost layers and surrounding tissues remain at a comfortable temperature, but the heat damages a portion of the deeper skin tissue.

That prompts your body’s natural healing response. It creates new collagen cells, which smooth and plump your skin. That creates an additional layer of padding between your skin and cellulite, making the dimples and depressions less noticeable.

Envi cellulite treatments only take 15-45 minutes at the Oahu OB/GYN office, depending on the treatment area. There’s no need for anesthesia or other special preparation, and no discomfort during your sessions. You may notice a warming and massaging sensation during treatment, and some minor redness in your skin for a few hours afterward.

It takes a few months for the full effects of TempSure Envi to develop, and you may need more than one treatment to achieve optimal results.
